Sorry Paul, but I don’t agree. A meeting doesn’t make you loose half a days work, it is half a days work. People who think they aren’t working during meetings don’t belong there in the first place. A more verbose style of programming (think literate or BDD) helps mitigating the problem of not being able to continue work right away.

Elgot algebras given you a shortcircuitable hylomorphism where you can directly return a sub-answer to the catamorphism. (from this website) I may be dumb and unilluminated about category theory, but people saying (writing) things like these actually get me turned off from wanting to learn about Haskell. Don’t be surprised if Scala is going to be the next big thing in static...
